Women of Courage Award 2007: The Winner

I am absolutely delighted to announce that the winner of the 2007 Women of Courage Award is Karen Baker. Read Karen's inspiring story here.
can be a rather lonely business, but one of the things which always keeps me going is imagining my readers. I like to think of you curled up in a chair, sitting on a train, or even lying on a beach with one of my books, and if I can make the journey go faster, getting a suntan less tedious, or just make a night in cosier, then I think I'm on the right track.

People often apologise for writing to me, which always makes me laugh for you couldn't possibly know how good it is to hear from someone who has loved your work. I feel honoured that they take the time and trouble to put it into words. I need the feedback too as my characters become like members of my family. How would you feel if you had a baby and no one ever told you it was beautiful? If something awful happened to one of your family you'd want someone to show they cared. And when I invent someone evil I really want to know that you found him or her scary, that you rejoiced when they got their comeuppance. I also love to hear that you cried at the sad parts, for believe me I cry when I am writing them, for to write something believable you have to kind of live it.

So my website is here to answer some of your questions about me and my books. I hope very much that you will enjoy it.
