Andrew Chaikin |
Andrew Chaikin cannot remember a time when he was not fascinated by the heavens. Aged thirteen when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon, he has pursued a career dedicated to space exploration ever since. He obtained a degree in Geology and worked in research at the Center for Earth and Planetary Studies before becoming a science journalist, editing many publications including Sky and Telescope magazine. His hopes of making it into space himself as part of the Journalist in Space Program were put on hold indefinitely when the space shuttle Challenger exploded. A Man on the Moon is the result of eight years of research and writing, including interviews with each of the twenty-three surviving Apollo voyagers. He lives in Arlington, Massachusetts.
