Ambrose is Director Emeritus of the Eisenhower Center at the University of New Orleans and the author of many books, most recently the New York Times bestsellers Citizen Soldiers and Undaunted Courage: Meriwether Lewis, Thomas Jefferson, and the Opening of the American West. He is one of the foremost historians of the European theater of World War II.
