Lisa Appignanesi is a novelist and writer. Her fiction includes Sanctuary, The Dead of Winter, and The Things We do For Love, amongst other novels. She is also the author of Losing the Dead: A Family Memoir, a biographical portrait of Simone de Beauvoir, and Cabaret. A former university lecturer and Deputy Director of London's Institute of Contemporary Arts, she has made various programmes for television and co-edited a number of books, including The Rushdie File and Science and Beyond.
