Daphne M. Gulland

Daphne Gulland was born in 1953. She was educated at Fidelis Grammar School in London. In 1975, she graduated with honours in English and German at Bedford College, University of London. For the last eight years she has been engaged in research into the origins of the most common idioms in the language, breaking new ground with her system of categorization for the Penguin Dictionary of English Idioms. She is married wth four children.
