Betty Radice read Classsics at Oxford and tutored in Classics, Philosophy and English. In 1964 she became joint editor of the Penguin Classics where she edited and translated numerous classical works. She was an honourary fellow of St Hilda's college, Oxford, and a vice-president of the Classical Association. She died in 1985.
