Eric John |
Eric John was born in Altrincham in 1922 and educated at Stand Grammar School, Whitefield, and Manchester University, where he read history. After a year as reader at the Institute of Historical Research of London University, he returned to Manchester as a lecturer in history and retired in 1982 as Reader in History. He was visiting Professor of History at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1970-71. His publications include Land Tenure in Early England: Orbis Britanniae; and he has been editor and contributor to the Book of Popes and numerous articles in the English Historical Review, Bulletin of John Rylands Library and many others.
