Susan Sontag’s critical essays established her as a leading commentator on contemporary culture. Susan Sontag's books include three novels, The Benefactor, Death Kit and most recently The Volcano Lover, as well as a collection of short stories, I etcetera, a story, The Way We Live Now, and a play, Alice in Bed.
Among her books of non-fiction are four collections of essays, Against Interpretation, Styles of Radical Will, On Photography, which won the National Book Critics' Circle Award, and Under the Sign of Saturn.
Several of her books, including a Susan Sontag Reader, are published by Penguin. Susan Sontag also wrote and directed four feature-length films and staged plays in the United States and Europe. One of America’s best known and most admired writers, she died in December 2005.
