Saira Shah

Saira Shah was born in Britain of an Afghan family who trace their ancestry back two thousand years. She has been back and forth to Afghanistan since the early 1980s - when she first went travelling with the mujahidin. She has made more than nine long trips.  She is a freelance journalist and war reporter, and reported on the acclaimed documentaries Beneath the Veil and Unholy War.
