Place of birth:
Peterborough, New Hampshire, USA
Birthday:
January 3rd
Birthday tidbit:
I was the official New Year’s Baby for Peterborough, N.H., a town so tiny that I arrived on the 3rd and still qualified!
Favourite book:
“Charlotte’s Web” by E. B. White. Runner-up: “Pride & Prejudice” by Jane Austen.
Favourite song:
“What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong.
Favourite film:
“Casablanca.” Runner-up: “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.”
Most Treasured Possession:
My family.
When did I start writing:
I wrote my first story in second grade. I was seven or eight. I still have it. It was called “The Clever Giant,” and although it wasn’t very clever, I fell madly in love with writing then and there.
Where do my ideas and inspiration come from:
Daily life, mostly. My family, my friends, my pets, things I observe or overhear, memories of my childhood. Those sorts of things.
Three tips to becoming a successful author:
Read as much as possible (for inspiration and instruction); be persistent – never give up; and finally, turn the ringer on the phone off when you’re working!
What is my favourite place in the world and why:
The comfy armchair in my office. I read here, write here, chat on the phone here, nap here, dream here. In fact, I’m sitting here in my armchair right now!
What are my hobbies:
I love to read, cook, travel, go for walks with my dog, and watch movies.
If I hadn’t been an author, what do I think I would have been:
A spy!
