'I am in year six and my class is reading this book. It uses old style english but has a exciting story line. It has many cliff hangers and makes you feel sorry for the characters at differant points of the book e.g you feel sorry for willie because he is beaten with a belt by jhis mother, brain washing him to think he is a naughty boy.'

In "Goodnight Mr Tom", Magorian has created a gripping story, suitable for children and adults. The story is based in wartime Britain, and describes how to very different lives together. The main character is a deprived young boy who comes from a London family. He is evacuated to a quiet, leafy, village, into Mr Tom's home, someone who seems to be quite a severe old man. Magorian has skilfully interwoven the lives of Willie and Mr Tom so that the reader comes to deeeply care about what happens to them both. She also gradually gives the reader more information about the main charaters, for example, the loneliness of Mr Tom, who is a widower, and the bravery of Willie. I thought the book was descriptive; it had depth in the characters and setting and i really enjoyed the story.

I thought Goodnight Mister Tom was quite an emotional book. Goodnight Mister Tom is about a boy called William Beech, who goes to live with an old man called Tom Oakley, in the country. Parts of this book are quite emotional. I think this book is suitable for people aged 12 and upwards.This book is written by Michelle Magorian. I found this book overall ok, although some parts were a bit boring.

I am 13 yrs old and have been reading GoodNight Mister Tom in my English Class at SPHCHS.I found this book interesting to read and found that there was more to life than just fighting in the war. Goodnight Mister Tom follows the story of Willie Beech an Evaccuee from London in the second world war.Michelle Magorian has written in a very emotive way which Grips readers and pulls them until you've finished the book.Through out the book she (Magorian) manages to keep the book realistic but at the same time a fantasy.I was fascinated by the way she portrays the relationship between Mister Tom and Willie and between Willie and his Mum. I think this book is a great read and am glad I had the chance to read it because it's not the sort of thing I sit down to read.

'Goodnight mister tom' was a gripping read which got me hooked from the very first page, though certainly not the best book i've ever read. it diplays an undying bond between the two main characters- mister tom and willie beach-Willi8e was an evacuee from london and mister tom - a grumpy older man got lumbered with him.it is set in a tiny village called Little weirwold in the second world war where young Willie Beech leans the importance of friendship and knowledge. When Willie receives bad news from his mother in London Willie finds himself in a sticky situation in which his whole future depends on. It?s a good read I recommend it so give it a go in some spare time you get.

I am 12 years old and extremely enjoyed reading "Goodnight Mister Tom" with my year 8 English class. G.M.T is an emotive book. The friendship created between the two main characters, Tom Oakley and William Beech, is special because of the change in the characters attitude. Magorian did a smart thing when they separated the friends so Willie could return to London, because it shows the great strength and determination two people have. I believe this is a must read book for most children and adults of all ages. Enjoy the story whether it be the book or a CD version that you could listen to on any journey.

Goodnight Mister Tom is about a boy named William Beech, a sickly and under nourished boy who is evacuated to the country where A man named Tom Oakley takes him in.The book is set during World War 2 and has many characters who you will either despise or like.It is a unusual book which would be good to read if you have bit of spare time, even a few minutes a day would be all it needs.

Goodnight Mister Tom is a brilliant novel about a boy called William Beech, who goes to live Mister Tom, a bad tempered, grumpy, old man. Although I like the story, it?s quite long and takes a while to get to the main plot, but still it?s very good when it does! I would recommend this book for 9-13 year olds , but I think it would also be a great read for adults too. The story is set In war time Britain and is an adventure story. It has lots of emotion in it, at some points you feel sad put at other times it makes you feel really happy. If your not the type of person who likes reading then you could watch the film instead, because it?s just as good. You could probably get hold of a tape too. It?s a fantastic book and I really recommend that you read it.

I?m in Year 8 and our English teacher made us read Goodnight Mr Tom and I am glad he did because I, and I am sure my class will agree, really enjoyed the interesting plot and sad ending. Goodnight Mr Tom is set in Little Weirwold, a small country village in the Second World War ? but you?ll agree if you?ve read the book it?s got its own troubles as well. Michelle Magorian writes with amazing conviction and is incredible at putting you in the character?s shoes ? you really feel their pain and joy. She portrays the character?s emotions brilliantly through everything they do and every single sentence has a meaning. Mr Tom has a rollercoaster relationship with Willie, his friends and his family, and his gradual bond with him is put in jeopardy when they can?t be together. Goodnight Mr Tom is a very gripping and emotional story, with moments that will make you laugh and cry. The surprise ending made me cry with grief and with joy, it is so stunningly written. I recommend this book to any teenagers looking for a good, long read which they cannot stop, or anyone who has free time and wants to have a good time listening to it on tape.

The emotions portrayed by the author make the characters come to life. I really related to Willy because you could really feel when he was hurt and when he was happy. I am in year 8 and we studied Goodnight Mister Tom by Michelle Magorian in out English classes. I am a frequent reader and had seen the movie of the book before. I highly recommend it. It is a book set in the First World War. Magorian?s style of writing is very powerful. The relationship between Willie and Tom was heart-wrenching and moving. The best bit is around three quarters through the book; the plot is shocking and emotional, bringing me close to tears. It is a perfect read for teens or someone that likes sensitive stories or historical novels. At points it dragged on a lacked humour but the description and powerful plot make up for it. It really is a touching story.

Goodnight Mister Tom is one of the best books i've ever read. Michelle Magorian sets the scene by placing a shy frail boy from London in the countryside with a snappy old man during the second World War. William and Tom gradually build a strong trusting relationship which results in Mister Tom mellowing towards William. Through the book there is drama, intrigue and sadness, all of which makes this book compelling reading. An excellent book, I would reccommend it to all readers.

I am 12 years old, and I would recommend Goodnight Mister Tom to anyone after an amazing book! It is an excellent read for people of any age, and I totally enjoyed it, as have many adults I know. We?ve just read it in our Year 8 English class and it really brings and out your emotions (I was even close to tears!); it really touches your heart and gives you an insight into people?s lives during World War II. Michelle Magorian is a stunning author, creating an incredibly moving book and developing the characters throughout the novel. I will definitely be reading all her other books! It is an emotional rollercoaster, creating a sense of love and security between the characters of Tom and Willie, as well as many desperately sad moments. Set in the countryside village of little Weirwold, with Britain on the brink of the Second World War, Willie is introduced as a timid, deprived young child, but under the care of Mister Tom Oakley he begins to flourish into a confident, adult like boy. I was completely blown away by the book?s powerful structure and touching ending. It was really gripping, I couldn?t put it down! It was a real adventure reading the book; I wish I?d have read it sooner! You really feel like your in their with the characters, going through both their despair and happiness, until?disastrous news is received.

I am 12 years old and found this book an easy, enjoyable, compelling read. I think that Magorian thought hard about this book so as to give the reader certian emotions. When Young Willie is evacuated to the country to live with Mister Tom, an old man with a tendency to be grumpy, his life makes a dramatic turn and for the first time Willie feels secure until one day a Willie recives a letter and poor Willie is pulled away from hes new found gardian. I personaly thought the cover was very dull and that put me off but when i started it i couldnt put it down. A 5 star read definatly!

Michelle Magorian?s ?Goodnight Mr Tom?, is an emotional rollercoaster of a book. At some times, it will leave you crying, at other times, you will be smiling with happiness. This book is great for people from about nine upwards. I read it when I was 10 and I?m twelve now, and I still enjoy reading it. The story is about an evacuee from London, being transferred to the country to stay with a old man, known for his strictness. During the story, He receives a letter from his mother summoning him home. But what awaits him there I?ll leave you to find out. I would definitely recommend this book, because I love a good emotive book.

I'm 12 and in English we read the book "Goodnight Mister Tom" by Michelle Magorian. Goodnight Mister Tom is about a yound boy called William Beech. He gets evacuated to the county during world war 2. He is taken care of by a old man called Tom Oakly. This book is full of emotion, it gets you sitting on the edge of your chair because you want to know whats going to happen. There is parts of the story that make you feel as if yo are there in the room and witnesses to the scene going on. It is an amazing read and is suitable for people around 11-14, but adults will enjoy it. At first when my teacher told us that we were goin to read GMT, I wasn't really looking forward to reading it because I had heard it was dull and boring. But after a few pages I started to enjoy it. I couldn't put the book down. I really recommend this book.
