'''The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, / But in ourselves, that we are underlings.''" - Julius Caeser John Green has outdone himself once again with his beautiful and exquisite book, "The Fault in Our Stars". This book made me laugh, cry and made me nearly growl in frustration. The characters were very realistic and the struggles they go through were drawn in detail which made me feel as if I was going through the same problems. John Green definitely knew how to torture me with his use of words by building tension and drowning me with raw emotion. “The marks humans leave are too often scars.” Hazel Grace is an average teenager who watches marathons of America''s Top Model and likes to stay at home rather than going out. However, that all changes when she is diagnosed with clinical depression and meets Augustus Waters who is in remission at a support group for kids with cancer. Hazel is surprised that Augustus pays attention to her due to her chipmunk cheeks (side effect of the "miracle" drug she is taking). While Augustus is potrayed just as realistic as Hazel, Augustus''s favourite book is a novelisation of his video game and he wants to leave a lasting impression on the world. The book as a whole is realistic, the author doesn''t lie that cancer and dying is graceful. He is brutally honest that cancer is a horrid and ugly disease and shows us what it can do to us. I cannot recommend this book enough, this is a must read for all teenagers and adults.'» Submit a review
