Darcey Bussell is passionate about Pilates. Darcey Bussell was born in London on 27 April 1969. At the age of thirteen she was accepted into the Royal Ballet School where she studied for five years before joining Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet in 1987. In September 1989 Darcey joined the Royal Ballet, becoming a First Soloist; three months later she was promoted to Principal - she was just twenty years old. She has danced for the New York City Ballet and the Kirov Ballet of St Petersburg, and has guested internationally with several other companies.

Darcey was awarded Dancer of the Year in 1990 by Dance & Dancers magazine. That same year she also received both the Sir James Garreras Award for the most promising newcomer and the Evening Standard Ballet Award. She was joint winner of the Cosmopolitan Achievement Award in the Performing Art category in 1991 and was entitled an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 1995 New Year's Honours List.

Darcey and her husband Angus have two daughters, Phoebe (born June 2001) and Zoe (born February 2004). |
