How long does it take for you to come up with a new recipe; do you have any set formula you stick to? |
| Jamie: |
It can take five seconds or I might be rubbish for a week or two and not come up with anything. I'm generally influenced by conversations, but mainly it comes from walking down the market - somewhere like Borough or any farmers' market is the best place really. |

What inspires you to create new recipes? |
| Jamie: |
Books, people, stories, markets, locations, scenarios - you know, like coming up with the best hangover recipes when you're hungover, or coming up with great portable food recipes when you're living out of a tent or a VW camper. |

What is your all-time favourite meal to eat and to cook? |
| Jamie: |
That's like asking an artist what their favourite colour is, or asking a musician what their favourite chord is. It's a bloody stupid question and you know it! |

What's the best meal you've ever had? |
| Jamie: |
Again, every day brings a new experience. I find I can be as passionate about a beautiful ham sandwich with crunchy lettuce and hot mustard as I can about some arty farty Michelin starred meal that I've had in a posh restaurant. It depends. |

Does Jools get a look in in the kitchen? |
| Jamie: |
No - well, actually, yes she does but only when I'm not at home in the week! |

Has Poppy found her culinary feet yet? |
| Jamie: |
Both my girls love watching food being prepared and getting involved in food and they love eating, so far. |

What quality would you most like to have? |
| Jamie: |
Are you trying to say that I'm not perfect?! Oh, okay, I wish I was Italian. |

Do you have any nicknames? |
| Jamie: |
Big Fella, Tiger Shark, Jamelia (which is my alter-ego!), a whole selection of rude words, and Katkins, which is what my wife calls me. |

Do you have any unfulfilled ambitions? |
| Jamie: |
Yes, I want to open my own restaurant for me and not anybody else. |

What's in your bag at the moment? |
| Jamie: |
Baby wipes, an iPod, sunglasses, too many receipts, passport, condoms. (Promoting contraception is a really good thing.) |

What's next for Jamie Oliver? |

A holiday. Less work. |
