Explanation of work
Every element in this book has a non-stop momentum to it. From Kerouac’s writing style, to the way the narrative develops, each component subscribes to a continuous, almost unimaginable way of life.
I wanted to reflect this and so have created the typographic artwork from an unbroken band running over the cover. Repeating this line gives the type the illusion of being out of focus and adds an element of initial confusion to the cover, reflecting the view outsiders had on Kerouac’s lifestyle. The use of red emphasizes the difference between the monotonous society surrounding this story and the experiences Kerouac has when on the road.
