Explanation of work
Deep in the forest, not far from Hampden University’s campus two murders are committed in a row by a group of Greek students. This is a result of a bacchanal, an orgy in Telestic madness. Therefore I have chosen to illustrate the book cover with a wreath of forest plants common during wintertime, when the crimes are committed, in the northern United States. In my composition the wreath links the campus in Hampden with the Greek students, and the influence of drugs and alcohol is symbolized by the Greek god Bacchus. The ivy leaves with the winter berries instead of grapes around Bacchus will put the Greek atmosphere into the modern north American setting.
