Explanation of work
Donna Tartt’s novel has often been referred to as a modern-day Greek tragedy, and therefore I wanted to include the predominant theme of ancient Greece and study of the classics within my design. However, I decided to make this quite a subtle element, and have done this by using small collaged images of Greek statues as well as bits of writing from Homer’s The Iliad. These cover the faces of the students in the college yearbook photographs, showing how their deep involvement with the subject soon grows to the point of an obsession that eventually changes their lives forever.
