Explanation of work
The concept for my design is based around the bacchanal that the group perform, as I felt this was the crucial turning point and represented what the book really addresses: identity issues and the search for the ‘self’, the psychology of guilt and the romanticism of death. This is why I chose to steer away from any clichéd classical or Greek imagery, instead creating a sense of the chaos and out-of-body experience in the forest, using the juxtaposition between the bright, explosive colours of the forest and the blood representing the violent murder to highlight the many contrasting themes in the book.
