Explanation of work
In my design I am attempting to pay homage to the artistic styles of the 1950s, as well as to the method by which Kerouac produced his first draft, a long continuous typewritten scroll. I have utilized a typeface indicative of 1950s jazz style artwork, as well as the loose improvised shapes common in this period. I have also sampled vintage colours, such as those found in early Bakelite plastics, to achieve my final result.
