THE CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES IS 5 p.m. ON FRIDAY, 17 APRIL 2009.

YOU MUST PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING SUBMISSIONS FOR EACH DESIGN ENTRY:

  • An A3 board showing full jacket to scale 1:1. This must show front, back and spine. There should be no additional work shown on this board.
  • An A3 board demonstrating the development of the thought process from the original research to the final concept.
  • A bound photocopy of sketchbook work relating to the brief (no bigger than A3).
  • A short, typewritten text (max. 50–100 words only), submitted as a hard-copy print out and also saved as a Word document, explaining the concept for your design, as well as a couple of sentences on which Penguin cover you most admire and why.

All of the above (except the sketchbook) must also be submitted as high-resolution PDFs (or a Word document as appropriate) on a CD. Please label the CD with your first name and surname.

All work must be submitted on A3 lightweight card (except sketchbook and CD) and must be clearly labelled with a submission form. Submission forms must be typed or clearly written with capital letters.

Please note that your work will not be returned to you. You can arrange collection from our offices at 80 Strand, London WC2R ORL by prior arrangement. To arrange collection please email mail@penguindesignaward.co.uk. Any work not collected by 27 June will be destroyed.

You may download the entry form found on the Downloads page of the website. You will find a total of two forms:

(1) entry form
(2) submission form

Only one entry form is required per entry (per design).

A separate submission form, fixed to the back of each piece of work, must accompany each submission.

The sender must prepay all shipping costs, insurance, customs duties and handling fees for all entries.

All submissions must be posted with your entry form in a single shipping container to:
