Lorna Sage

Lorna Sage dies

Lorna Sage, one of the nation's foremost literary critics, authors and academics has died at the age of 57. She had been suffering from emphysema for some years.

In addition to her own work including Bad Blood, this year's Whitbread biography of the year, she was the editor of several collections of women's literature including Katherine Mansfield's The Garden Party and Other Stories.

A regular contributor to literary journals, she was also a judge for both the Booker and the Orange Prize.
