The Christmas Collection

Scarlett Bailey

Festive cheer is in glorious abundance with this story collection, and it's the perfect read to settle down with on a winter's night (e-reader in hand, mind you, because it's only available in digital format.) It includes three gorgeous Christmassy tales by Scarlett Bailey (otherwise known as the fabulous Rowan Coleman), and they're each as heartwarming as the other. Ignore the Scrooges and dive into the Christmas joy. We'll be doing exactly the same thing.

The Travelling Cat Chronicles

Hiro Arikawa

This book is just so lovely and so beautiful and there are almost no words for it, but we'll try. Nana the cat is on a road trip with his beloved owner, Satoru. They pass through Japan as the seasons change, meeting friends and characters who are all strangely interested in Nana. But why? Satoru won't tell him. But when Nana finally realises, he's in for heartbreak. It's a book about kindness and how the smallest things in life can bring you the most joy. A perfect read for Christmas, we thought.

Comfort and Joy

Cathy Bramley

To us, Cathy Bramley is the queen of heartwarming, cosy reads, so of course we had to include her Christmas tale in this list! Comfort and Joy is a fabulously feel-good story about Christmas in Plumberry. Verity Bloom is ready for a relaxing holiday with her new boyfriend, but the weather has other ideas - continous rain and a power cut might just put a dampener on her festive plans...

The Christmas Stocking and Other Stories

Katie Fforde

Embrace the festive season with these lovely short stories from Katie Fforde, sure to contribute to your happy Christmas this year. Romance, happy endings and twinkling lights fill these pages, and will warm your heart. Best enjoyed with a mince pie, a glass of mulled wine and whilst wearing snuggly socks. (We know from experience.) Fuzzy feelings guaranteed.

Christmas with the Bomb Girls

Daisy Styles

If you're after a heartwarming tale of female friendship, this is the book for you. Kitty and Edna want to make this a Christmas to remember, even in the midst of war. But when Gladys returns from performing for the troops at the front line, they can tell something is up. What happened when she was away? And can they bring her back to her old self? With endearing characters and a wonderfully festive feel, this is a cracking read for Christmas time.

The Place We Met

Isabelle Broom

Drift off to Lake Como in Italy with this enchanting book. Taggie has fled her home and her heartbreak and taken a job working in a hotel. Lucy, newly in love with her recent boyfriend, has booked a mini holiday so they can spend some quality time together. The believable characters, alluring setting and unexpected twist (we won't spoil it!) make this an unforgettable read. Curl up in a chair and lose yourself in its pages.
