Read with Penguin: introducing our new Thursday reading club

On Thursday lunchtimes, we take a moment to pause, read and share - and we'd love you to join us.

How do you carve out reading time? Perhaps it's how you like to start the day, maybe it's something that gives you peace on the commute, or how you drift off before sleeping. Here at Penguin, we like to read together – and we're inviting you to join us.

The concept is simple: every Thursday at 1pm, a member of the Penguin team who interacts with our readers every day – whether through the website, podcast or social media channels – will be logging onto our Instagram account and going live. We'll explain a little about what we're reading, and we hope you will share what you're reading in the comments, and then we'll read together for the next 30 minutes.

We hosted a read-a-long during Spend the Day with Penguin, our way of marking 2022's Mental Health Week's theme of loneliness, and found it was one of our favourite bits of the day. Even better, we discovered that you loved it too.

So we brought it back. Every Thursday, we will grab 30 minutes' concentrated reading from our office. Sometimes we'll have special guests and maybe your favourite authors will make an appearence too! But the most important thing is you, and making time to pick up your book and get through a few more chapters.

Our first Read with Penguin will take place on Thursday, 23 June at 1pm GMT, on Instagram Live. See you then!
