James Henry Trotter's parents have been eaten by a rhinoceros, so now he lives with his two repulsive aunts.

One hot day something peculiar happens and an enormous peach grows in their garden. Soon James and the Giant Peach are rolling away from his horrible aunts, towards a most marvellous and wonderful place....

Here are seven reasons why you should listen to this 3D audio edition, for a wondercrump experience. It sounds like Roald Dahl's phizz-whizzing characters are in the room with you!

James and the Giant Peach

1It’s an unforgettable experience!

3D audio is like a surround-sound experience, played to you through your headphones so that it sounds like you’re in the middle of the action. What better book to try it with than James and the Giant Peach?

2. It brings the story and the setting to life

You’ll hear the squelching of the peach, the scuttling of insects and the cry of the seagulls all around you.

3. Every sound you hear is unique

We even created some of the sounds from scratch: the seagulls are actually paperback books being flapped around a recording studio!

4. It features unexpected guests…

One of the producers was exceptionally good at making the strangest of noises – so he cameos as one of the insects! We’ll let you guess which one…

5. The recording is designed to sound like real life

To record in 3D, we created a head-shaped microphone with ears that are designed exactly like real ears. This is so they record the sound in the same way your own ears would hear it.

6. It’s dangerous…

Our producers had to walk quietly around the microphone, holding heavy speakers that were playing the special effects. They had to try hard not to get tangled in the wires, and avoid any mishaps!

7.     You won’t have heard anything like this before

This is the very first 3D audiobook from Puffin, and trust us when we say that there is nothing else out there like it!
