Fact: Percy Jackson is the son of one of the big three Greek gods – Poseidon, and is named after Perseus, another Greek hero. His birthday falls on August 18th.

Percy’s mum Sally Jackson met and fell in love with Poseidon, the Greek god of the seas, storms, and horses. Sally is one of the few humans who can see through the Mist, which usually stops mortals from seeing the supernatural around them.

Fact: Percy’s eyes are green, not blue.

People might often think that Percy has ocean-blue eyes since he’s the son of Poseidon, but he actually has sea-green eyes!

Fact: Percy is one of three demigods who entered and came out of Tartarus alive.

Percy followed Annabeth, his girlfriend, into Tartarus at the end of The Mark of Athena (The Heroes of Olympus Book 3). Nico, the son of Hades, is the only other demigod who has survived going into Tartarus.

Fact: Percy is the only Greek/non-Roman demigod to become a Praetor at Camp Jupiter.

Hera switched Percy and Jason into each other’s camps (Jason went to Camp Half-Blood and Percy to Camp Jupiter). The demigods at Camp Jupiter proclaimed Percy as Praetor when he successfully defeated Polybotes, a giant.

Fact: Percy’s weapon of choice is a sword called Riptide, which is actually also a working pen.

Chiron, the immortal centaur who is the activities director at Camp Half-Blood, gave Percy a pen that turns into a sword when uncapped. In the Ship of the Dead (Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard Book 3), Percy finds out his sword, whose real name is Anaklusmos (Greek for Riptide), is actually a girl (sword)!

Fact: Percy’s favourite colour is blue, and he eats a lot of blue food!

Percy’s late stepfather Gabe once argued with him that food couldn’t be blue. So his mum, Sally Jackson, went out of her way to bring and make Percy blue food, including blue cakes and candy! His favourite colour is blue because of his relation to seas and oceans. Sally’s favourite colour is blue too!

Fact: Percy has refused an offer of immortality.

After the Battle of Manhattan in Percy Jackson and The Last Olympian (Book 5), all the demigods who fought on the side of the gods are offered rewards. Percy is offered immortality but declines it to be a mortal and live life with Annabeth. Instead, he asks for a different wish — the gods must claim all the children they sire, Hades and the minor gods must be respected too, and the pact of the big three must be broken.
