Yesterday (May 18) saw the opening of the be my cover exhibition at the FFLAG gallery in Turin, featuring a curated selection of the best amongst thousands of book covers designed, commissioned, and produced every year by Penguin Random House worldwide through its publishing houses.

With a focus on our global design heritage, the exhibition features several cover designs from Penguin Random House UK designers past and present, including Suzanne Dean, Jim Stoddart, Coralie Bickford-Smith and David Pearson. Running until May 26, it has been arranged as an off-fair event in conjunction with the annual Salone del Libro of Turin, Italy’s oldest and most established book fair, by curators Roberto Maria Clemente with Fabrizio La Rocca.

The exhibition coincides with the judging of the Penguin Random House Student Design Award, which recently announced its 2017 shortlist. Now in its eleventh year, the Student Design Award helps to discover the next generation of cover designers, providing students with a unique opportunity to experience cover design first-hand, giving a leg up to passionate and creative young people across the UK. This years judging panel includes Suzanne, Jim and David, who are all featured in the exhibition, alongside desingers such as Caz Hildebrand and Sarah Hyndman.
