Transcription, a new novel from Kate Atkinson, to be published in September 2018

Transcription, a bravura novel of extraordinary power and substancewill be published in Doubleday hardcover in September 2018. It tells the story of Juliet Armstrong, who is recruited as a young woman by an obscure wartime department of the secret service. In the aftermath of war she joins the BBC, where her life begins to unravel, and she finally has to come to terms with the consequences of idealism.

Kate's last novel, A God in Ruins won the Costa Novel Award in 2015, a prize she also won for the highly-acclaimed Life After Life and her first novel, Behind the Scenes at the Museum. Her four bestselling novels featuring former detective Jackson Brodie later became the BBC television series Case Histories, starring Jason Isaacs.
