Ebury Press to publish Great British Bake Off winner Candice Brown

Candice Brown

Ebury are thrilled to announce the acquisition of Candice Brown’s debut cookbook filled with simple, comforting home baking. The deal for world all languages was done by Laura Higginson, Ebury Press Editorial Director and Anna Bruce at Yellow Poppy Media.

Secondary school teacher and pub landlord’s daughter Candice Brown stole the show with her amazing bakes and weekly lipstick change in The Great British Bake Off tent of 2016. Now as a Sunday Times columnist, Loose Women and This Morning favourite, she will be bringing out her first cookbook – all about home comforts. These are the recipes Candice learned from her nan and mum, recipes close to her heart, that should be served up as a big generous slice – and preferably on a vintage plate if you have one.

Candice’s recipes are easy to make, no nonsense and generous. She has a recipe up her sleeve for every occasion – baking with kids, birthday parties for all ages, Christmas, afternoon tea, quick savoury bakes for weeknights and fancier recipes for the weekend.

Recipes include Candice’s family recipes for Toffee apple crumble, Cornflake tart, Triple layer berry cake, Christmas cake, a perfect roast chicken, black pudding sausage rolls, Tattie scones, Pork and apple pasties – and, of course, homemade pork scratchings.

Candice Brown said: I am so excited and beyond proud to be able to share with you my very first book. It is filled with recipes that I love, my family and friends love and I hope you will love them too. I am all about comfort food, decadent bakes and huge slices! It has been my absolute pleasure testing and writing these recipes that I encourage you to try, change and make your own. Baking shouldn’t be scary or difficult and I think my book will show this Bake, share and smile.

Laura Higginson – Senior Commissioning Editor, Ebury Press said: ‘Candice’s recipes are mouth-watering, inventive takes on popular bakes, which is just what we need right now – comfort baking and feel-good treats as nan would make them but with Candice’s fun, modern twists. It’s shaping up to be a beautiful, irresistible cookbook.’

Candice Brown is the winner of The Great British Bake Off 2016. Since her victory, she has been extremely busy with a fabulously diverse range of projects. She was recently announced as The Sunday Times’ new columnist, has baked on This Morning and Christmas Kitchen and appeared as a panelist on Loose Women. She has worked with PayPal on a charity campaign, been featured in Hello magazine and tested lipsticks for Heat magazine. She has also taken part in live baking demos at The Cake and Bake show and Foodies Festival.
