Penguin Random House UK plans huge World Book Day celebration

WBD

We've got some exciting plans up our sleeve for this year’s World Book Day on 1 March, as we organise our single largest volunteering effort and a donation of over 6,000 books to children living in our local communities.

This Thursday 500+ colleagues will visit over 130 schools, libraries and children’s centres in and around London to deliver interactive storytelling sessions and bring to life the magic of reading and books with children and young adults across the capital. We’ll also be working with colleagues in our other sites across the UK – Frating, Rugby, Manningtree, Grantham and Rushden – to donate books to children across our local communities.

We are very excited about all that we have planned and will be documenting our activities throughout the day: you can follow all the action through our @PenguinRHUK@PenguinUKBooks and @PuffinBooks channels, as well as on our Penguin Random House UK website. To find out how to get involved with World Book Day in your area, visit the official World Book Day website.

World Book Day is the world’s biggest celebration of celebration of authors, illustrators, books and reading for pleasure. Over the past 20 years, World Book Day UK has distributed over 290 million £1 book tokens to children and young people across the country. This year two Penguin Random House authors, Clare Balding and Tom Fletcher, are among the 10 authors chosen to pen new works that will be available for just £1 (€1.50 in Ireland), or for free in exchange for a World Book Day token.
