For the first time ever Penguin Pride will take to the stage at Proud Galleries in Camden for a landmark evening of live music, performance poetry, photography and more to mark 50 years since the decriminalisation of homosexuality in England.
Following on from Penguin’s hugely successful 2016 Pride campaign, this unique festival-style event will showcase a variety of Penguin's fantastic LGBT authors with live readings from Matthew Todd and Paul Flynn.
Filling the space at Proud Galleries with panel discussions, live readings and spoken word performances, Penguin Pride at Proud will also feature a specially curated photography exhibition in association with Stonewall, and we'll be giving people the opportunity to share their stories at our message wall using our #PenguinPride hashtag. The evening will culminate in an exclusive performance from superstar headliner Kele Okereke (Bloc Party) on the main stage.
Celebrating the important role literature has played in championing LGBT rights, Penguin Pride promotes thought-provoking debate about how far we still have to go before everyone feels accepted without exception.
