  • On The Brink A Cold War

  • Fifty years ago, the world stood on the brink of nuclear war as the US and Soviets engaged in a military stand-off over missiles in Cuba. In Douglas Kennedy's story, the last in a series looking at the Cuban Missile Crisis through the eyes of ordinary people, a young boy in Manhattan watches his parents' marriage fall apart as nuclear war looms. Read by Nathan Osgood. Produced by Justine Willett.

Douglas Kennedy is the author of ten novels, including Leaving the World and The Moment. In 2007, he received the French decoration of Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. His radio work includes A Cold War, one of three stories in BBC Radio 4's 'On the Brink' series.
