We are looking for an aspiring editor to join gal-dem’s editor-in-chief and award-winning journalist Charlie Brinkhurst-Cuff in commissioning and editing our exciting young adult anthology coming in 2021: Black Joy.
Black Joy is a young adult non-fiction anthology which will feature essays from a variety of inspiring Black British voices around the topic of the joy they’ve found in their lives. It will be published in September 2021 by Penguin Random House Children’s Books. As well as including essays from well-known Black Brits, we would like to find a mentee who will act as co-editor and is brimming with ideas on potential commissions and topics that will be relevant to a younger audience to include in the anthology.
You don’t need to have worked in editorial in the past, but you do need to have lots of ideas about how we can reach new writers, and what original, insightful essay you would like to write for the anthology too.
You will be paid £2500 for your contribution to this project.
