With over 30 years' experience in book PR, at Transworld Publishers I am responsible for securing high profile multi-media coverage, events in partnerships with bookshops, festivals and libraries, for developing and delivering sales-driving book PR campaigns alongside creating global brands. While the landscape of book promotion shifts continuously, I am always motivated to find new ways alongside the well trodden paths to connect books with readers. Discovering that another new reader has enjoyed a book we have been championing, that experience never gets old. The writers I work with include Kate Atkinson, Dan Brown, Derren Brown, Paula Hawkins, Ruth Jones and Armistead Maupin amongst others and I have been responsible for publicity in the launch campaigns for the biggest debut novels of the last few years including No. 1 bestsellers Before I Go To Sleep, The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, Never Greener, Disclaimer and The Girl on the Train.
A book that's left a deep impression on me: A God In Ruins, by Kate Atkinson. Devastating, playful, human, affecting – superb storytelling from an incomparable writer. The closing words echo continuously through my head.
My literary hero: Jane Austen. Someone recently said to me: ‘she recognised us before we recognised ourselves’. I think that just about sums it up.
A book I'd recommend to everyone: This changes constantly but I keep returning to A Room of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf. It was written over 90 years ago, and there is so much truth within those pages still.
