Summary

Puffin Classics: the definitive collection of timeless stories, for every child

Let's enjoy the beautiful things we can see, my dear, and not think about those we cannot.

Little Heidi loves living with her gruff grandfather in his secluded hut high is the Swiss Alps, roaming through the meadows, and listening to the sweet sound of cattle bells. When Heidi is sent to work for a wealthy family in the big city, she thinks she'll never stop feeling homesick. But she soon befriends the family's young disabled daughter, Clara , through tales of her adventures in the mountains, and life becomes less lonely. Heidi is therefore delighted when she and Clara are sent back to the mountains - finally she can show her friend the wonders of the mountains for real! But when disaster strikes, Heidi must care for her friend like never before.

Heidi is rightly heralded as one of the most evocative children's classics of all time, and this sweet story about friendship, adventure, positivity and kindness is sure to fill your heart with joy.

This edition includes a delightful introduction by award-winning author, Eva Ibbotson.
