Our Audio team wins two awards at the New York Radio Awards

The prestigious New York Radio Awards are celebrated annually to honour excellence and innovation across numerous audio formats. They award their distinctive Art Deco microphone trophies to international leaders in radio, advertising, TV, film and audiobooks. The Audio team at Penguin Random House has won two awards this year. Firstly, for So, Anyway… by John Cleese, which won Gold in the Best Non-fiction Audiobook category. In addition, Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel won a Finalist Commendation Certificate for Best Ensemble Narration. The director of the festival shared that there were entrants from over 30 countries this year, and that competition was 'exceptionally strong'.

Duncan Honeyman, Senior Commissioning Editor said: “As soon as John stepped into the recording booth on the first day I knew we were experiencing something special. His humour permeates his reading, and, of course, I have him to thank for arranging the brilliant cameo performance from Michael Palin. Winning an industry award of this calibre is a testament to the chemistry that John enjoyed with Andre Jacquemin, his friend and renowned sound engineer. We are delighted to bring home the gold.” 

Samantha Halstead, Senior Commissioning Editor said: "The Sleeping Giants production is an immersive full cast performance, told in a series of interview recordings and transcripts documenting a supernatural discovery set to change the world. We cast 9 diverse actors, ranging from a Bosnian pretending to be Greek, to French Canadian, Czech and American. The multiple narrators add so much depth and uniqueness to this production, which feels more like a radio play than an audiobook as a result."
