We live in an era of fake news, conspiracy theories and 'post-truth' rhetoric. So how can we be rational in the modern world?

Steven Pinker is a cognitive scientist at Harvard and he wants to help us get better at making sense of the confused world we live in.

In this 12-part Radio 4 series, Professor Pinker examines how we can be better critical thinkers. He explores the topic in discussion with fellow critical thinkers, including Daniel Kahneman and real-world practitioners such as Bill Gates and Roula Khalaf.

In each episode, Pinker examines a different way the human brain can be tripped up, from understanding probability to the difference between correlation and causation.
