What would you give for the chance to say goodbye?
High on a hill, beneath a tumble of snowflakes, sits an old, faded house above a beautiful garden which blooms bright from tears of grief. Rooms cannot be rented here and visits are by invitation only. It is a place for people haunted by the memory of loss. It is the chance to say goodbye to the person you love.
When Liddy receives an invitation to the house, she thinks there must be some mistake. The letter instructs her to bring three objects with her: one belonging to her, and two from the person she has lost - only Liddy has never experienced the loss of a loved one. Her curiosity stirred, she decides to accept the offer, and makes her way to the house.
When she arrives, she meets the enigmatic key maker; Vivienne, a beautiful, austere woman whose glare leaves Liddy unsettled; and Ben, the gentle gardener who tends the flowers that grow in the garden. Liddy must discover why she has been called to this place - but the house won't give up its secrets so easily...
A magical novel about grief and healing from the author of Feathertide.
