About the authors

Thich Nhat Hanh

Born in Hue, Vietnam, Thich Nhat Hanh was a Buddhist Zen Master, poet, scholar and human rights activist. In 1967, he was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by Martin Luther King. He founded the Van Hanh Buddhist University in Saigon, the School of Youth and Social Service and the Plum Village Buddhist community and meditation centre in France, where he lived for many years. He was the author of many acclaimed books including Peace is Every Step, Old Path White Clouds and Fear, which have sold millions of copies around the world. In 2018, he returned to Vietnam to live at the Tu Hieu Temple, where he was first ordained when he was sixteen years old. He died on 22nd January 2022, at the age of 95.

Marc J. Francis is a director, producer and cinematographer whose documentary films have won worldwide critical acclaim and have been distributed across cinemas, television and streaming platforms. His films include the critically acclaimed Black Gold, which follows the campaigning efforts of an Ethiopian coffee union leader and is credited with propelling the Fair Trade movement; Walk With Me, which journeys into the monastery of Zen Buddhist Master Thich Nhat Hanh and is narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch; as well as an upcoming documentary featuring Elizabeth Gilbert and her deceased partner Rayya Elias during their final months together, which offers profound insight into what it means to grieve and live life fully.

Matt Coldrick is a Musician and Producer with 35 years professional experience:

He worked as a session guitarist through the late 80' and 90's culminating in 3 years as Musical Director for Gabrielle in the years preceding her first Britpop award.

He has credits as a composer for TV themes for CH4, BBC, ITV, National Geographic & Sky and also major computer Game soundtracks for Sony and Sega.


He worked in Australia for 5 years as a Communication Design Producer on Public Sector projects with Melbourne Zoo, Victoria Parliament and Fire Services. He then spent 2 years in New Zealand where he became immersed in Devotional Music and permaculture, spending a year on a medicinal herb farm.

He has produced several ambient albums under the name Pan Electric and after returning to the UK in 2017 qualified as a Coach and set up " Leap" Creative Coaching practice
