Jane Austen: The 250th Anniversary Collection

Four Full-Cast BBC Radio Dramatisations

A collection of four new full-cast BBC Radio dramatisations of Austen's beloved work: Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Northanger Abbey, and Mansfield Park - plus a bonus series When I Met Jane Austen

Prized as a key British classics writer, focused on women, romance and relationships, Jane Austen's 250th birthday marks an unmissable anniversary for fans.

These modern dramatisations of Austen’s much-loved classics put her novels ‘under a 21st century microscope’, celebrating Austen’s feminist writing, alongside her witty and biting humour. They concentrate on the brilliant, funny women and enriching female friendships that keep these classics relevant today. They show Austen as a rebellious, radical, endlessly entertaining novelist whose stories have acquired new relevance. What women in fiction are more accomplished talkers than Elizabeth Bennet?

Included in this collection are full-cast dramatisations of Austen’s famous works such as Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Northanger Abbey, and Mansfield Park.

About Jane Austen

Jane Austen, the daughter of a clergyman, was born in Hampshire in 1775, and later lived in Bath and the village of Chawton. As a child and teenager, she wrote brilliantly witty stories for her family's amusement, as well as a novella, Lady Susan. Her first published novel was Sense and Sensibility, which appeared in 1811 and was soon followed by Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park and Emma. Austen died in 1817, and Persuasion and Northanger Abbey were published posthumously in 1818.
