Accessibility

Website accessibility

We're committed to making penguin.co.uk accessible to everyone, including disabled users. Our long-term goal is to be able to conform to a level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines to ensure that the website is accessible as possible.

We intend to continue improving our accessibility. If you have any questions or problems, please email webfeedback@penguin.co.uk.

Zoom

Most web browsers can magnify webpages without distorting the design,  making the page more legible for visually impaired users. This feature is supported on the following web browsers:

- Microsoft Internet Explorer 7+

- Mozilla Firefox 3+

- Apple Safari 4+

- Google Chrome 2.0+

Colours

The colours on our website have been chosen to provide a high degree of contrast to maximise visibility.

Navigation

You can search our website for authors and titles using your keyboard. Some areas on the site now use tabbed containers to allow you to select the information you want. All the available content can be read by screen-readers when the page is loaded.

Documents

You can find additional information on our website in the form of Adobe PDF files. Clicking on a link to these files will open a new browser window. We're working to make our most important documents fully accessible.

Alternatively you can use Adobe's online tools to convert PDF files to HTML. For more information about reading these files with assistive technology, please visit www.adobe.com

Accessible copies of our books

As part of our mission of making books for everyone, Penguin Random House UK works in partnership with several organisations to make our books accessible to readers who may need different formats.

Penguin Random House UK is a proud signatory of the UK Publishing Accessibility Action Group's Charter for Accessible Publishing.

Accessible formats of our books are available for free through the RNIB (Royal National Institute for the Blind) and Calibre Audio.

RNIB is one of the UK’s leading sight loss charities and our books are available to RNIB members who are impacted by sight loss through their Reading Services initiatives. Digital and audiobooks are available to all members through Talking Books and learners can use Bookshare to access textbooks, materials and books that support the UK curriculum from early years to adult education.

We also give the RNIB access to reproduce Penguin Random House UK books in braille, large and giant print, and tactile diagram formats. If you need books in one of these formats, please contact the RNIB who can arrange this.

Calibre Audio provide audiobook services to anyone who has a print disability which makes reading and understanding text difficult, including visual impairments, learning disabilities, physical dexterity conditions, and individuals who are experiencing long Covid. Calibre Audio members can access all Penguin Random House UK titles in audiobook format for free through their service.

If you have any other specific access requests, please get in touch by emailing AccessibleFilesRequests@penguinrandomhouse.co.uk .

Our partnerships with RNIB and Calibre Audio support our efforts to make our books more inclusive and accessible as part of our Social Impact strategy. We are also ensuring that all newly published e-books meet high standards of accessibility, introducing new measures like full searchable and resizable text, captioned media and including clear navigation.
