PENGUIN RANDOM HOUSE CHILDREN’S PRIVACY NOTICE
1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Hi! We’re Penguin Random House and we make books. Our company names are The Random House Group Limited and Penguin Books Limited. This page explains how we as a business collect and use your information (which we sometimes call ‘personal data’). Thanks for visiting and reading our privacy notice!
1.2 If you are under 13 years old, please make sure you have asked your mum, dad or the other grown up who looks after you, for permission to use this site.
1.3 When you visit Penguin’s websites or use our services, we may collect some information about you. This page lets you know what information we collect and what we do with it.

1.5 We take our responsibilities for how we use your personal data very seriously and make sure we only use it in the way that we are allowed to. As part of this we follow rules called ‘The Children’s Code’, so that everything we do is fair and that we are protecting your interests.

2. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT ABOUT YOU?
There are a few different types of information we might collect about you:
2.1 your name, email address, date of birth, home address and telephone number;
2.2 your social media handle;
2.3 information your computer, tablet or phone tells us, like where you are and the type of device you are using, how you are using our website for example, which pages you’ve visited, any searches you made and which other websites you go to.

3. HOW DO WE USE YOUR INFORMATION AND WHY?
3.1 We may use the information above for the following reasons:
3.1.1 you have entered one of our competitions;
3.1.2 we are interested in a book you have written;
3.1.3 we would like to use a photo or other information about you in one of our books, adverts or on our website or social media;
3.1.4 you have contacted us or one of our authors to ask a question or to tell us something;
3.1.5 you have posted something onto our website;
3.1.6 you have scanned a QR code to take you to one of our websites.
3.2 The reason we are allowed to do this is because:
3.2.1 you or your parent/grown up who looks after you have given us permission;
3.2.2 we have made sure that it is fair on you to do so;
3.2.3 we need to run a safe business that follows the law.
4. WHO DO WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION WITH?
4.1 We might share your information with people who help us to run our business, our websites, or our competitions. We may also share your information with other companies in the Penguin family (some of which are based outside of the UK).
4.2 Sometimes we may need to ask you or your parent for permission for us to do this.
5. HOW DO WE LOOK AFTER YOUR INFORMATION AND HOW LONG DO WE KEEP IT FOR?
5.1 To keep your information safe, we make sure our computers are secure and tell people who use your personal data how to look after it.
5.2 We will only keep your information for as long as we need it and so that you can keep getting the things you have asked for.

6.1 You have the right at any time:

6.1.2 to find out what information we have about you;
6.1.3 to ask us to stop using your personal data;
6.1.4 to tell us if you think we are using your information unfairly;
6.1.5 to ask us to correct or delete your personal data;
6.1.6 to complain about us to the people who tell us how to look after your information, who are called the Information Commissioner’s Office (https://ico.org.uk);

We may make changes to this page from time to time. We will put the changes on our website, or let you know by sending you an email.
