Louise Moore, Managing Director, Penguin Michael Joseph

I have worked my way up the editorial ladder, starting as a PA. I joined Penguin Michael Joseph as an Editorial Director in 1997, becoming Managing Director in 2006.

At Penguin Michael Joseph I work with a talented publishing team dedicated to delivering the best fiction and non-fiction titles. Our mission is to publish the widest possible variety of voices that speak to – and for – everyone, welcoming all readers in. We’re passionate about finding books with imaginative ideas and great writing at their heart and taking those to the widest possible audience.

I am lucky enough to have the privilege of working with some of the UK’s most beloved writers. From Marian Keyes and Jamie Oliver to Nadiya Hussein, Mrs Hinch, Stephen Fry, Raynor Winn, Jojo Moyes, Conn Iggulden, Lesley Pearse, Dawn French and many, many more.  I don’t think the importance of books can be underestimated – in books people find friendship, solace, instruction and escape. Books are nothing but a force for good.

My literary hero: Pandora Braithwaite, from The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole.  What a woman.

A book I'd recommend to everyone: Jamie Oliver’s Five Ingredients
