Rebecca Sinclair

Chief Brand Officer

I lead Penguin Random House's Brand team. We are a team focused on promoting the discoverability of our authors, increasing sales of our books and leveraging the power of our brand to ensure we drive commercial and social success. We are united in our commitment to our mission to make books for everyone, because a book can change anyone.

I had a rather circuitous route getting here but reflecting, I realise that all my jobs have been connected by three things: brand, purpose and people.  Here at Penguin Random House, we are driven by a firm belief that books and reading really can change lives and a commitment to share our authors, stories and ideas with the widest possible audience.  We are lucky to have responsibility for the world’s best-loved publishing brand and we are always thinking about how we leverage our scale and reach to champion the causes we care about.  Those things are what motivate me to get out of bed in the morning, as well as being mother to my two daughters Izzy and Holly.

A book that's left a deep impression on meWhen Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi.

My literary hero: I was named after Rebecca Sharp from Vanity Fair so I have always felt an affection for her – deeply flawed but undeniably a woman who knew what she wanted in life.

A book I'd recommend to everyoneAny Human Heart by William Boyd is one that I have recommended many times and it has never disappointed.
