Tamarind was founded by Verna Wilkins in 1987 to champion diversity in children’s publishing, focusing in particular on ensuring children of all cultures and ethnicities had the chance to see themselves in stories and books.

We know that there is still much more to do to build on the important legacy of Tamarind to ensure that children from every walk of life can see themselves in the stories they read. You can find out more about what we’re doing to make our books and company more inclusive on our corporate website

We’ll be adding to our reading lists over time to guide readers towards books with inclusive themes and diverse characters.

If you have any questions about Tamarind or our inclusive publishing, please get in touch by emailing puffin@penguinrandomhouse.co.uk
