Sarah Roscoe

Group Sales Director

I lead Penguin Random House’s Sales team.  We are the team focused on getting our books into the hands of as many consumers as possible through an enormous array of retailers and partners both here in the UK and right around the world.

I love working in Sales because as a team we are involved in every stage of a book’s life, from acquisition right through to sustaining a book’s life through many many years to come. We are also in the enviable position of having a broad range of disciplines under the Sales umbrella here at Penguin Random House, from retailer account management through sales operations and analysis, bibliographic, data science, retail advertising and international communications. I am biased, but I like to think this makes us the most multidisciplinary team in the business…!

I have worked here at Penguin Random House for over twenty years and feel incredibly lucky to have a role where I am constantly challenged and learning something new, working for a business that has a genuine purpose that I really believe in.

A book that left a deep impression on me:
The Secret History by Donna Tartt.  This was the book of my teenage years and the first book that I remember me and all of my friends reading simultaneously.

My literary hero:
Beatrice from Much Ado About Nothing for her independence, intelligence and wit.

A Book I Would Recommend to Everyone:
The Power of the Dog by Don Winslow.  I am a big fan of an epic thriller, and this one delivers in spades.
