I am drawn to books that immerse me in new landscapes, cultures and worlds, whether than be Cornish rainforests, female diving communities on Jeju Island, or the crazy world of social media etymology.

My publishing is made up of powerful and personal narratives told through distinctive voices, as well as down-the-rabbit-hole journeys of discovery and adventure guided by infectiously enthusiastic experts.

My core areas of focus are nature & environment, memoir (particularly when there is a sharp historical, political or environmental angle), history, pop science, language, culture & the arts, and any of those with a BBC link.

Last year's highlights include publishing Our Oaken Bones by Merlin Hanbury-Tenison (shortlisted for the Wainwright Prize) and Algospeak by Adam Aleksic (New York Times bestseller).

Recent acquisitions include a memoir from a chess grandmaster, a science adventure around the world from an evolutionary biologist, and an intimate memoir from a Hiroshima survivor that's been lost for decades and recently discovered.
