Jonathan Cape acquires Jarvis Cocker’s ‘This Book is a Song’ in midnight deal

In a deal closed just before midnight last night (Wednesday 15 March) at the London Book Fair, Jonathan Cape has secured UK and Commonwealth rights to This Book is a Song by former Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker.  Publishing director Michal Shavit bought rights from Spanish agent Mónica Carmona in a six-figure deal, after an auction involving eight publishers.

Jonathan Cape Publishing Director, Michal Shavit, said:

‘We’re thrilled and excited to be publishing one of Britain’s greatest and most adored cultural and musical figures, Jarvis Cocker, at Jonathan Cape and Vintage.

In this unique and important book, Jarvis will be exploring the subject of creativity and how to quietly make amazing things happen in a world of noise. Whether it is from the stage, over the airwaves and now in print, he never fails to be interesting and brilliantly real. We’re thrilled to be part of this project and can’t wait for him to show us the path to everyday inspiration.’

A publication date is yet to be confirmed.
