An Artistic Odyssey is the winner of the Cape/Observer/Comica graphic short story prize. Edinburgh College of Art graduate Edith Pritchett beat over 200 other entrants to win the £1,000 prize.

Judges for the prize included Dan Franklin, publisher of Jonathan Cape’s graphic novel list, Suzanne Dean, creative director at VINTAGE, Paul Gravett, who runs the Comica festival, Rachel Cooke from The Observer and guest judges Posy Simmonds and Michel Faber.

Described by Rachel Cooke as 'a waspishly amusing and artfully rendered tale of modern mores and flawed feminism.... Not only did it look great, it also had a beginning, a middle and an end – a harder trick to pull off than you may think over the course of only four pages. Best of all, it was funny.'

Edith is 'ecstatic' to have won, hoping the prize might help her achieve her long-term dream of making cartoons her living in the future.
