John Brockington is Emeritus Professor of Sanskrit in the School of Asian Studies at the University of Edinburgh. He has published widely on Sanskrit literature, especially epics, and is the Secretary General of the International Association of Sanskrit studies. Mary Brockington has published on the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, and the Harivamsa, and on traditional tales and early literature in Europe and South Asia.
