It is 1839 and seventeen year old Lily Rose has been left to provide for her brother and younger sister following the sudden loss of their loving parents. Meanwhile, Queen Victoria is preparing for her wedding, when she will wear the most exquisite wedding dress in history. Lily is the finest lace maker in Honiton and thankfully receives a top secret commission that will keep her family fed. But there are those who want to see her fail - Squire Clinsden is determined to get his way with her, and when Lily refuses his advances he forces her family from their home. Lily's circumstances only worsen at every turn she tries to make, and eventually even her adoring fiance, Tom, begins to lose faith in her.
